SheDev Empowering Women since 2020

Women Empowerment is a fancy term with an obvious meaning. It means giving women equal opportunities and freedom to develop their skills, nurture their creativity, and make decisions as men. It is the process of encouraging women to take risks and think outside of the box. SheDev is empowering women with atypical means of learning and earning. It is the first women-led and women-owned Tech startup of Gilgit Baltistan.

Before diving deep into the journey of SheDev empowering woman, let’s have a look at the importance of women empowerment.

Why is Women Empowerment Important?

Think of the wheels in a car. A vehicle can not function without all its wheels supporting the body equally. The same logic can be applied to the development of a nation. A nation can not prosper with only half its population participating in economic and development activities. Resultantly, women empowerment plays a vital role in economic growth and general development.

Women empowerment ensures equal participation of men and women in societal development. The even-handedness in the division of labor and provision of opportunities helps in multi-fold development. Female empowerment is also responsible for the moral and ethical upliftment of a nation. For instance, women with a successful life and better opportunities can help their children develop a positive perspective on life.

Why Digital Literacy is Important?

The importance of women’s empowerment can also be depicted by the rapid economic shifts of the world. The development rate of countries with equal participation of both genders is much higher than those without it.

Women in Gilgit Baltistan

Gilgit Baltistan is one of the remote regions of Pakistan with its mountainous topography and underdeveloped infrastructure. It also has a strong Patriarchal System of society, where men are given more freedom, opportunities, and importance. This leaves women to be the caretakers of the home and live within limits.

The situation, however, needs to be changed as women empowerment becomes crucial for social, cultural, and economic development. Moreover, it is the basic right of women to be treated equally and have more development opportunities just as men.
